Ocean Adventure marine theme park in Subic Bay opened its 65 square-meter “Ocean heART Gallery” yesterday, featuring 3D paintings intended to encourage selfies and allow visitors to interact with the artworks.

“Each artwork is painted in such a way that, when photographed from specific angles, they create optical illusions to make a person appear part of the picture,” Dodjie Aguinaldo, Founder of Sining Mabalacat Artist Club, said. The 3D paintings were created by Pampanga artists from the Sining Mabalacat Artist Club.

The paintings have different themes including one on marine species like whalesharks and octopus. One 3d art shows an octopus holding a chair with its tentacles for a visitor to sit on, creating an illusion that the visitor is part of the picture. Ocean Adventure has also commissioned four local artists from Olongapo to paint murals of sea creatures like whales, sharks, and giant turtles.

Ocean Adventure is in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, a three hour drive from Manila via the Subic, Clark Tarlac Expressway. Entrance fee at Ocean Adventure is P788 for adults and P628 for kids and senior citizens, including access to a show, two aquariums, the 3D art gallery and Bugs Ville. Call +6347 252 9000, visit Ocean Adventure.
