Other rock formations in the country like the Kapurpurawan Rock Formations in Ilocos Norte and Biri Island in Samar have become mandatory tourist stops, but Animasola Island in San Pascual, Masbate, located about 500km southeast of Manila, has somehow escaped the public eye - thanks to its remote location, which keeps it escape-perfect in its isolation. Stacks of pancakes come to mind when you see Animasola's rock formations spread around the shore, and its crevices have formed beautiful natural pools. Have a refreshing dip in the clear blue waters of the ocean with seabed made of white sand and crushed corals.
How to get there
From the Philtranco terminal at EDSA corner Apelo Cruz street in Pasay, ride a bus to the CBD Bus Terminal in Naga City. Upon disembarking, get on a tricycle to the Pasacao Van Terminal, then a van to the town of Pasacao. From the dropoff point in Pasacao, hop on a pedicab to the port where boats can be hired to Animasola Island.
