Baler lures mostly surfers and city dwellers in Metro Manila, looking for a short weekend break, either to ride the waves or just to laze about on the beach, island hop, and swim. Just about 230 kilometers northeast of Manila, Baler lies in Aurora with around 328 kilometers of coastline. Surfing is the number one activity for both locals and tourists, but there are waterfalls, forests and massive 600-year-old balete trees to explore. It's also a glorious spot for just chilling out as seen in this photo taken by traveller @ecsboards_australia on Instagram.

How to get there
The easiest way to get to this surf town is to hop on a Genesis Transport Inc. luxury JoyBus in Cubao going straight to Baler. Fare is P700 ($15) and travel time is roughly four hours. At the bus terminal in Baler, take a tricycle to your resort.
