The Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA), a government corporation aimed at attracting foreign nationals and former Filipino citizens to invest, reside and retire in the Philippines, celebrated its 31st year of service on July 1 at the Philippine International Convention Centre in Pasay City.
The authority honored its long-serving employees with industry achiever awards and announced milestones achieved in the past year. PRA marketing manager Noehl Bautista said some of the authority's achievements in 2015 include giving registered retirees in the Philippines entitlement to Philhealth benefits and access to the VIP lounge set up for them exclusively at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2. Bautista also announced the P190-million dividend the PRA was able to submit to the Bureau of Treasury in 2015.
Newly appointed Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) secretary Wanda Corazon Teo was guest speaker at the event. She told some 300 PRA employees, board members and board of trustees and guests that the Philippines is now recognized as “a retirement paradise” and was included in Forbes’ top 20 retirement destinations.
The PRA has been working hand in hand with the DOT, Bureau of Immigration and the Development Bank of the Philippines for the past 31 years in order to improve its service and convince more retirees to settle in the country. It has already enrolled about 45,000 foreign retirees to date, 10% of which joined in 2015.
