This native sauna at Secret Paradise Resort off San Vicente, 123km northeast of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, is a wooden shed that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside, it’s every spa addict’s dream. Well-constructed wooden benches line the sides of this shed and the entrance is sealed with a clear plastic sheet, letting in sunshine while giving you a view of the beach. The room is fed by steam from wood-burning boiler that is filled with water and at least six herbs and fragrant leaves from the area like lemongrass, mango, calamansi, guava, lagundi and sambong.
P450 (US$10) per person minimum of two for 30 minutes.

How to get there
Book a direct flight on Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or Air Asia from Manila to Puerto Princesa City in Palawan. Secret Paradise Resort can arrange transfers from the airport to the resort.
