Whale sharks in Oslob, Cebu

Tourists swim with whale sharks as large as a bus in Oslob. @evgeniy_stepanenko shares his magical moment with the gentle giant on Instagram

Instagrammer @evgeniy_stepanenko shares a snapshot of his swim with a whale shark in Oslob. Tan-awan, Oslob, about 127 kilometers from Cebu City, is a laid-back barangay (local village) known for its butanding or whale sharks. These gentle creatures have made Oslob popular with local and foreign tourists, with boat tours allowing visitors to dive in the water and swim with the whale sharks, some as big as a bus.

How to get there
Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and Air Asia fly daily to Cebu. From the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City, board a Ceres bus and ask the driver to drop you off at Tan-awan Oslob. Travel time is about three hours.
