This wreck diving photo was taken by Gutsy Tuason in Busuanga, Palawan. Acknowledged as the wreck diving capital of the country, Busuanga offers over a dozen sites to fit individual skill levels. For the newbie diver, there’s a submarine hunter in the Lusong Island Wreck to explore. Advanced divers can try the Irako, Olympia Maru, among other wrecks of the Japanese fleet mostly sunk in 1944. The wrecks, sunk for over half a century, have become a coral reef habitat, teeming with marine life.

Visit Busuanga Seadive Resort for wreck diving. Philippine Airlines flies to Busuanga Island in Palawan. For ideas on resort stays in Coron, the eastern half of Busuanga island, read Getting wrecked (and much more) in the pretty town of Concepcion.
