Take me to...Iwahig River in Palawan

This river in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, is best for firefly watching but looks just as pretty in the daytime

Famous for its firefly watching tours, Iwahig River is best on a moonlit night, but clearly, it's just as picturesque in the early morning fog.

Apart from being the best seat in the house to watch the fireflies, Iwahig is also an ecological hotspot, with its brackish waters host to a lush mangrove forest.

AirAsia, Cebu Pacific Air, and Philippine Airlines fly to Puerto Princesa daily. From the town proper, book a tricycle (about P700 or US$15 for up to five people) to take you to the Iwahig river. The Iwahig River Firefly tour costs P600 for a boat for up to three people. Contact G Eco Tours for more information.
