Kay's Water World is located 20 minutes north of Puerto Princesa, a convenient escape from the city. Its bamboo entrance gate, flanked on each side by tropical palms shows pretty much what it's like inside—a tropical, rustic getaway. There are two public pools and some private pool rooms and big open spaces. Open hut cottages made of bamboo and nipa (a local species of palm) are available for day rentals. There are also rooms for overnight stays. The hot springs are the big event here for a relaxing, healing soak, and then a quick dip or a swim in the cool waters of the resort's swimming pools.
The hot springs
Kay's hot springs are alkaline, and are maintained naturally, without any chemicals. Locals believe in its healing properties which includes helping improve blood circulation, strengthening the immune system, reducing stress, and aiding you to get a good night's sleep. It's a favorite pitstop for tourists after a day of tours in nearby Honda Bay. The atmosphere is amazing in the day but even more so at night when you can enjoy a therapeutic soak underneath the stars.
There are 10 spacious, airconditioned rooms, each with a king-sized bed, toilet and bath, and a living room area. The Kanlaon Suite, which can accommodate five people costs from P2,500 or US$48 a night.
Food. An in-house restaurant serves tasty Filipino cuisine and some local Palawan dishes.
Verdict. Great for a dip in its warm healing waters. It's also an affordable stay for groups and families.
