With its powerful ocean swells, the island of Siargao in Surigao del Norte may be a waverider's paradise, but even non-surfers have a lot to swoon over here. Case-in-point: Magpupungko Beach in Pilar, Siargao.
An hour and a half by motorbike away from surfing hotspot General Luna, the beach is relatively small and the sand is not as fine, but the real attraction are the tidal pools that come out when the tide is low. With placid, crystal clear waters and stunning limestone rock formations, a dip here is certainly bliss.
Entrance to the beach is P50 (about US$2). Book a flight to Siargao via Cebu Pacific, and hire a motorbike for about P300 to take you to Magpupungko.
