My favorite beach is in Zambales. It feels like a second home for me. After work and tv shoots and tapings that don’t end till 3am, I’d go home and then drive three hours to Zambales and surf until I get tired.
I love to surf at Crystal beach in San Narciso, Zambales, and beaches near it.
I’ve been surfing for over five years now and Zambales has the perfect waves. Even if there’s no wind, the waves are still ideal to surf in, and there’s a particular spot that’s calm and ideal for beginners. Zambales for me is magical.
I want to disconnect whenever I go surfing – disconnect from technology, from people, from society – so I don’t take my cellphone or any gadget at all. I take my guitar instead. One time, I had the beach all to myself. No other surfers were there. So when I was done surfing, I just grabbed my guitar, sat on the beach, played a tune and enjoyed nature.
I usually stay in my tent or hammock so I can't endorse any of the resorts in Zambales. But if ever I'd recommend one, it would be Capones Vista which has always taken good care of me ever since I started surfing. They have good accommodation, friendly staff, and nice rooms.
