When it comes to world-class cocktails in El Nido, SAVA is the place to be
SAVA BEACH BAR probably needs no introduction to anyone who’s a regular in El Nido. According to Lonely Planet's guide book to the Philippines, SAVA is “a contemporary cocktail bar/ club worthy of El Nido’s status as a rising international starlet.” London-based Rough Guides called it “a stylish bar where the tunes are just as good as the colorful cocktails.”
SAVA, which opened two years ago, is at the forefront of something of a nightlife revolution in El Nido. It may be a beach bar, but it’s not a typical one. Yes, you can walk straight off a tour boat in the clear waters of El Nido Bay and order a cold beer. But you can also order some of the best cocktails in the East; the sort of heady and cosmopolitan concoction you’d normally expect on the drinks menu at a trendy city bar.
Behind the revolution is British mixologist and SAVA general manager Anthony White, who has made it his life’s mission to create tantalizing drinks, made with care and precision. Choose your drink from SAVA’s killer list: the signature SAVA Sensation, English Fizz, Espresso Martini, Piña Colada or Fruit Daiquiri. It’s a great way to end the day, or rather, start your night. There’s bar chow to go with your drinks. SAVA is known for its fries, sisig, and chicken burger.
If it’s atmosphere you’re after, it’s hard to beat this spot, right on the beach, watching Mother Nature put on a spectacular show at sunset. There’s a two-for-one Happy Hour special from 4pm to 6pm and if it’s your thing you can also puff away on a shisha. At 10pm, the dancing lights turn on and SAVA morphs into a beach club, with DJs and occasional live music. Altogether, it’s a heady combination that daydreams are made of.
SAVA Beach Bar can be accessed from either the street or beach (where the El Nido tour boats dock).
